Week 2 - Summer School

 

Morning & Afternoon Meeting

This week we sang some new songs, we danced to some new Danny Go dances, we looked at what we did over the weekend, and we even learned a little bit about the bugs that come out at summer! Everyone really loves doing a sped up version of Head Shoulders Knees and Toes. They love trying to go as fast as they can while doing the dance!! We also wont get to see Rihito for his birthday, so we sang him happy birthday on Friday!!

Topic Exploration

This week's topic exploration was all about different summer festivals from around the world. We made crafts that are unique to each summer festival and we learned about each of them and how people celebrate them. We made Fans for the Aoba Matsuri Festival. We made a special hat and fireworks art for Fourth of July. We made tacos and maracas for Cinco De Mayo. We made lanterns for the Hungry Ghost Festival. Language and Literacy

This week we practiced the letters that we have learned so far this year. We practiced tracing the letters. We played a game where we put the letters in playdough to see what shape they make. We played sound I spy where they have to find the letter with only the sound, and we practiced writing our names!

                                        

                                        

                                       

                                        

Free Play!

Here are some pictures of our friends enjoying their free play time! We played in the big room this week! They really wanted to just play monster tag this week haha! We played banana tag, monster tag, and obstacle course this week.

Upcoming Important Dates

Our two week of summer school are coming to an end. I had so much fun with everyone these two weeks, and I think they all had a pretty good time as well. Our theme for our first week back in August will be 'Welcome Back to school'. I'll see everyone on Wednesday, August 20th!!  I hope everyone has a great summer vacation.
